The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) conducts the NIFT entrance exam to shortlist aspirants for admission to its design programs such as Bachelor of Design (BDes), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech), Master of Design (MDes), Master of Fashion Management (MFM) and Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech). NIFT entrance exam is three-tiered in its format for BDes and MDes course admissions. As part of the NIFT entrance exam 2022 for BDes and MDes admission, candidates have to first appear for Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT).

The situation test for the B.Des program was conducted from April 2-5 in offline mode. Candidates who have qualified in the NIFT 2022 written tests (GAT and CAT) and have participated in the choice filling process were eligible to participate in the situation test. The choice filling was conducted from March 14-31. As part of the choice filling process, candidates had to select their choice of participating institutes in the order of priority.
The GDPI is conducted for the Master's programs from April 7-27. Candidates for the M.Des program are shortlisted for the GDPI based on the GAT and CAT written exams. However, for MFTech and MFM courses, candidates are shortlisted based on GAT scores. Mode of Situation Test / GDPI - Offline
The National Institute of Fashion Technology has declared the results of the NIFT 2022 result for the CAT and GAT written test on March 9, 2022. The results was released in online mode at the official website nift.ac.in; candidates can check their results by entering log-in details. Note that no hard copies are sent to the candidate.
NIFT 2022 scores will be used to shortlist candidates for a situation test/group discussion and personal interview round, which will be conducted in April 2022. Note that all shortlisted candidates need to register for the situation test/ GDPI by the given deadline.
The admit cards for the exam will be available for download from January 29, 2022. The admit card has to be downloaded online by entering one's login credentials. An essential document for appearing in the design entrance exam, the admit card will contain details like the name, roll number, name and address of the allotted NIFT exam center 2022, and exam-day guidelines. On the day of the exam, the candidate must bring with them a valid photo id proof along with the admit card.

The eligibility criteria for NIFT admissions vary from course to course. Candidates need to meet NIFT eligibility criteria 2022 in order to appear for the NIFT entrance exam.

NIFT is popular all over the country for its design, management, and technology programmes on offer at its 17 centres. Candidates are eligible to secure admission at NIFT on the basis of the ranks they secure in the entrance test. The steps that candidates need to follow in order to secure admission in any design course offered at the 17 NIFT campuses are mentioned below.
Step 1: Fill NIFT Application Form 2022
Candidates need to fill NIFT Entrance Exam application form online on the official website of the design school. Candidates need to pay their application fee by credit/debit card or the same can be paid by means of a Demand Draft (DD). Applicants are advised to keep a printout/ photocopy of their NIFT Entrance Exam application form for reference along with proof of payment.
Step 2: Download NIFT Admit Card
After duly filling the application forms, candidates need to download their NIFT Entrance Exam admit card from the official website of NIFT. It may be noted that candidates have to download their admit card from the official website only and no hard copy of the hall ticket will be sent to them by Post.
Step 3: Appear for NIFT Entrance Exam 2022
As part of the NIFT Entrance Test, candidates are evaluated on different parameters such as aptitude, skills, and knowledge. Due to this, the NIFT entrance exam is divided into four sections – Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT), Situation Test, and Group Discussion/ Personal Interview.
Step 4: Appear for NIFT Situation Test or GD/PI
Candidates who clear the NIFT entrance exam for BDes course admission then need to appear for the Situation Test round wherein their material handling skills are tested. On the other hand, aspirants taking the design entrance exam for MDes course admission need to appear for the Group Discussion/Personal Interview round. The situation test/ GD/ PI admission round is usually conducted in April-May every year.
Step 5: Check NIFT Entrance Exam Result
The final NIFT results are displayed on the official website of the design college. Candidates can view their results for NIFT admission by filling their roll number on the official website. Final results for NIFT admissions are usually declared in the month of May/June, every year.
Step 6: Appear for NIFT Counselling
Candidates are called for the NIFT counselling process as per their rank in NIFT entrance exam 2022. A separate counselling process is conducted for different design course admissions. NIFT authorities have a centralised counselling process for NIFT admission to different design programmes.
Candidates seeking admission under the Foreign Nationals/ SAARC/NRIs category do not need to appear for the NIFT entrance exam in order to secure admission in design courses offered at NIFT campuses.
